Hello, and welcome to day 1 of Blogtober! Today I’m going over my TBR for October. I’ll have around 5-10 books I’m hoping to read, but I recently started a part time job (At a bookstore! I’ll be helping run a blog for them so keep an eye out for news on that from me!) so I’ve gotten a lot busier. I’ll have more frequent updates on my life over on Twitter.
I also got a camera to borrow for the next few months (and hopefully longer!) so I’m experimenting with putting pictures in my posts. Let me know what you think in the comments? I’d love some feedback!
Anyways, let’s get into it!
#1. The Dragon Warrior by Katie Zhao
I am so excited to read this! I will be reading and reviewing this for a Caffeine Books blog tour, so expect a review on the 7th!
This cover is so gorgeous, and I’m so happy I was chosen for this blog tour. I can’t wait to read this Chinese mythology inspired middle grade novel!
#2. The Beast by Ally Condie and Brendan Reichs
Last fall I read the first book in the spooky Stranger Things meets Goonies inspired middle grade series, The Darkdeep, and it was phenomenal! I was fortunate enough to see Ally Condie when they were on tour for The Darkdeep (Brendan had to attend a wedding so he wasn’t there, but one day I’ll meet him!)
I’ll also be reviewing this one for Blogtober, so be on the look out for that!
#3. The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken
You may be noticing a theme with my October TBR. I have a lot of spooky themed middle grade novels on here because I find they set the perfect pace for me in terms of scary/spooky/autumn themed books. They’re not trying to focus on being scary like other “spooky” books, but they have the elements of it while also focusing on things like autumn, Halloween, and more!
I won the first two books in the Prosper Redding series from Alex’s newsletter earlier this year and I’ve been specifically saving them for these next few months!
#4. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
I’ve been meaning to read this book for FOREVER. I finally bought a copy from Thrift Books earlier this year (4 bucks for a hardback? Yes please!) and I’ve heard that it is autumnal themed, so I’ve been saving this one as well.
My friend mentioned that there is apparently a recipe in the back of the book as well? If you know me, you know that I love baking and books so combing them is my favorite thing.
Note to self- blog post series of food from books?
#5. We Speak in Storms by Natalie Lund
I have been so excited about this book for so long. Books with tornadoes are fascinating to me, and this one was no exception; especially with this stunning cover? I want to have this read and reviewed by the end of the year so once again, keep an eye out for that!
This is one of the books my aunt sent me, so thanks Aunt Julie!
#6. Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff
This is it. The conclusion to the Nevernight Chronicle. I wasn’t super on board at the beginning of Nevernight, but when I finished it I was hooked. After Godsgrave I couldn’t get enough. But now I’m scared to read Darkdawn! >-< I need to find some recaps of the first two books, so if you know of any or did them yourself, will you link them below for me?
I got my copy of Darkdawn in my Fox & Wit mini edition box, and it came with some truly gorgeous swag! A book sleeve, an enamel pin and a poster / dust jacket! You can catch my unboxing on my IG highlights labeled ‘Unboxing”
This is my realistic TBR, even though I’d ideally love to read at least 10 books to hit my #VillainAThon goal! All of these book should also hit my page count for the Villain-A-Thon as well, yay multitasking!
That that’s my October TBR! Are any of these what you’re planning on reading? Are there any you think I should read?
