October was an extremely slow reading month for me. I was getting into the swing of a new job, wrangling with Blogtober (a bit more about that below) and general family stuff. I only read 3 books, 2 of which were ARCs and one which was a back-list books I’d been meaning to read for awhile now. I had Some Thoughts on that one, but we’ll get there.

#1. The Dragon Warrior by Katie Zhao, 4/5 stars (Review)
I read this for the blog tour I participated in, and I had so much fun while reading it! It was so good, inclusive, and exciting. I even self-nominated it in the Goodreads Choice Awards 🙂 I really loved the sibling relationship and felt it was an important one for kids to read.

#2. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, 3/5 stars (review later, hopefully)
I finally picked this book up because I was actually having dreams about it. Guys. If you haven’t read a book, and you’re actually dreaming about the characters, you should probably pick the book up. Besides the fact that I had been wanting to give it a shot, and that I’d heard from my sister and a friend that I should read it, I finally did. And it was a big disappointment to say the least. I found it to be kinda problematic and I have no idea why it became such a cult classic within the book world. I’ve been told that some people are interested in hearing my thoughts, so I will try and post that review sometime this month.

#3. Ruthless Gods by Emily A. Duncan, 5/5 stars (Review to come)
Guys. THIS BOOK. R U I N E D ME. I read it over two weeks ago, and I still can’t process what happened. I will probably post a review closer to the book release, because it would be way too spoiler-y. But if any part of you enjoyed Wicked Saints, then you will definitely want to pick Ruthless Gods up.
What did you read in October? Anything spooky?
Blogtober:
I tried to participate in Blogtober (find my posts about it HERE). Unfortunately for me, October was not the best month for me to try and post a new blog post every single day for 31 days, so I failed spectacularly. I’m happy with the posts I put out, but it was sooo stressful worrying about putting out all of those posts. Here are a few I’m proudest of. If you would give them a read, I’d be really grateful!
- Things to Drink While Reading Your Favorite Autumn Books
- How To Request ARCs
- Bookish Pumpkins
- Book Tag: Halloween Candy
- Books I Want To Read but Probably Won’t
Did you participate? I want to see the post you’re proudest of! Share it below with me?
