Book Review: Reach For The Skai by Skai Jackson

Hey everyone! Today is day 24 of Blogtober and I have a review for you! This review will be a bit shorter, but it still tells you everything you need to know about why I loved this book and my thoughts on it!

Girls Life Magazine (who you may remember me working with for the Beach Blanket Book Club) reached out to me to see if I wanted to read Skai’s book Reach For The Skai: How To Inspire, Empower and Clapback and do a spotlight post on it, and how could I say no? I was a 2000’s Disney kid which means I grew up on The Suit Life of Zach and Cody, Hannah Montana, and Wizards of Waverly Place; but I also loved the newer shows such as Good Luck Charlie, the Suit Life reboot Suit Life on Deck, and Jessie, where Skai Jackson got her jump start into her acting career.

She’s also been featured in The Cut, Teen Vogue, and Ebony, among many others. She lives in Los Angeles.

This was a really awesome book. To see the behind the scenes life for a child actor, to really get to know Skai for who she is and learn about her values and morals in life, and get some good tips, this was a fantastic book. I hope tons of young girls and boys have a chance to read this book.

It was fun to read about her time on Jessie, as I grew up watching that show, reading about her other roles she booked, and other extracurricular activities such as her Nowadays fashion line, her activism accomplishments and so much more!

Skai is a very talented young woman and a great role model for kids young and old, and I can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next!

Regardless of age though, if you watched Jessie, you should read this book. It was as the title says- inspiring and empowering!
